Idaho German Shepherd Rescue is an all volunteer organization, run solely on donations and adoption fees. The rescue serves German Shepherds in need, with our primary mission to rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters in California and help them find their forever homes in Idaho. We also work with local shelters to help German Shepherds who may not be doing well in the shelter environment or have medical needs. Our foster homes provide a safe haven to German Shepherds as they make their way to quality, loving homes of their own. We are currently focused on the Treasure Valley, but hope to expand to other areas of Idaho in the future. Because we are foster-based, we do not have a physical facility and can only accept dogs into the rescue when we have fosters available, so please consider fostering to save a life!
Please note that we are volunteers with full-time jobs,
so please be patient with response time.
Owner Surrender Requests: We receive an average of 10 owner surrender requests every week. Our focus is on rescuing dogs at risk of euthanasia in the shelter system--every owner-surrendered dog we take in is an at-risk dog we cannot save. If you are looking to re-home your dog, please read these tips on re-homing.
